Master of Science in Advanced Materials  (pending SUNY and NYSED approval)

Description

The Master of Science in Advanced Materials will prepare participants to become leaders in a wide variety of fields in technology. The broad focus of the degree and the ability to specialize through selected coursework will enable students to pursue careers in biotechnology, chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology; among other emerging technologies based on novel materials. The classwork is split between science and business to better prepare participants to assume managerial roles within their organizations. In addition to the classwork, a required internship will provide practical experience applying learned classroom skills in real world settings. The option to work on an original research project jointly with members of the faculty at Cortland will provide another opportunity to apply theoretical skills to practical situations.

A description of the Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Systems  can be found in the Physics Department .

Special Features

  • In consultation with a faculty advisor, a customized program of study to fit the background and goals of participants
  • Classwork taught in small classes in a cohort setting
  • Personalized, hands-on training with leading technology in laboratory settings
