SOC 463 - Criminology(B)Sociological study of crime and its consequences; the etiology, extent and nature of crime in society. The focus of attention is on an historical and contemporary examination of the nature, role and causes of crime, and the relationship between crime and social control. Topics include explanations for crime, typologies of crime, criminal statistics, criminal law, and how pragmatic agencies of the justice system – the police and courts – operate to prevent, detect, manage and influence crime in society.Prerequisite: SOC 100 or 150 or ANT 102.Notes: Category DAlso listed as CRM 463.Fulfills Liberal Arts Requirement: LASR(3 cr. hr.)
