HLH 526 - Killer Bugs: Vectors of Human Disease An examination of how arthropods contribute to public health problems. Presents the major insect, mite, tick, etc. vectors of disease to humans via exploration of disease transmission, public health, and epidemiology of zoonotic diseases. (3 cr. hr.) Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the history of medical entomology and public health.
- Describe vector-borne disease surveillance.
- Identify and describe the biology of the major arthropods of public health importance.
- Identify and describe the associated diseases of the major arthropods of public health importance.
- Identify and describe the prevention techniques for diseases associated with the major arthropods of public health importance.
