PED 665 - Instructional Strategies in Secondary Physical Education An introduction to the theory and principles of curriculum construction in secondary physical education will focus on the study of philosophies, curriculum models, learning sequences, instruction, and curriculum evaluation aligned with National and State Standards and Outcomes. Prerequisites: PED 655 (C- or higher), PED 656 (S), and PED 603; Corequisite: PED 657 (50-hour field experience), PED 668, PED 526, and PED 638. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify strategies to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment by implementing developmentally appropriate practices focusing on behavior and classroom management.
- Select and implement appropriate planning & instructional methodologies to differentiate instruction to facilitate secondary student learning in physical education.
- Examine curricular philosophies, models, learning sequences, grade level outcomes, and instruction in relation to curriculum evaluation.
