PED 655 - Instructional Strategies in Elementary Physical Education Introduction in physical education teaching methodology for the student to study, practice, and acquire basic teaching skills applicable to K-5 physical education instruction. Corequisite: PED 603, PED 656, PED 625, PED 628. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Design physically and social-emotionally safe instruction that shows knowledge of individual and group motivation and behavior, is developmentally appropriate, and meets State and National benchmarks, standards and laws.
- Select, design and implement appropriate teaching strategies, instructional cues, prompts, demonstrations for developmentally appropriate learning environments to enhance learning in 3 domains for K- 5 students.
- Apply motor development, language acquisition, and literacy development theory of children in planning, implementation, and assessment.
- Exhibit professional behaviors that reflect a commitment and respect for the profession.
