FSA 610 - Advanced Assessment of Students with Disabilities This advanced course provides theoretical and practical applications of assessment (formal and informal) in the general education elementary classroom for students with disabilities. A 15-hour field component is included in this course. Prerequisite: FSA 515. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Articulate what is required for the assessment of students with disabilities under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
- Use assessment data to describe a student with a disability in grades 1-6 including strengths and needs, develop goals and objectives, create adaptations and accommodations for instruction and test administration.
- Analyze assessment strategies and specific assessments tools to identify applications, and advantages and limitations of their use.
- Describe basic concepts of assessment as they relate to test construction and measurement theory; including the issues of validity reliability, norms, bias, and test interpretation.
