SHH 683 - Auditory Disorders

An exploration of various disorders of auditory function and their impact on communication and the habilitative/rehabilitative management across the lifespan.  Open to students in the MS program in Communication Sciences and Disorders.  (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the physiological, perceptual, and audiological manifestations of pathologies affecting hearing.
  2. Describe an appropriate audiological test battery for the purpose of identifying specific hearing disorders. 
  3. Discuss the impact of hearing loss type, severity, and configuration on speech/language development and communication ability.  
  4. Discuss American Speech, Language, Hearing, Association scope of practice as it relates to speech-language pathologist role in screening and service provision for hearing impairments.
