PED 636 - Student and Program Assessment in Adapted Physical Education

Assessment and evaluation in the adapted physical education setting, service delivery models and factors that contribute to curricular development. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code S = offered in spring

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe the strategies needed for consultation and collaboration in assessing and long-term planning for individuals with disabilities. 
  2. Apply the major approaches to assessment with application to children with disabilities and the requirements regarding assessment as found in the federal law IDEIA (2004). 
  3. Evaluate assessment data when making decisions regarding the IEP process, present level of performance, program planning and/or curricular development. 
  4. Develop an IEP and/or physical activity plan based on individual assessment and be acquainted with current technology/software and demonstrate techniques for communicating achievement to colleagues, individuals and families. 
  5. Evaluate and advocate for the accessibility and access to community and school physical activity environments and quality physical education programs.
