PED 635 - Instructional Strategies in Adapted Physical Education Designed to address service delivery models and instructional strategies when serving children with disabilities in physical education. Successful students will demonstrate knowledge required to meet the professional and legal mandates. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code S = offered in spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Summarize relevant legislation, current issues, and national trends in the service delivery of Adapted Physical Education.
- Identify the influence and impact of unique attributes of various disabilities on the learning and performance of motor skills and physical activities.
- Create instructional strategies and modifications to be used in physical education that meet the unique learning needs (IEP goals) and abilities of individuals with disabilities.
- Apply concepts of universal design of learning (UDL) when planning instructional strategies in physical education.
- Identify and apply appropriate activities using assessment data collected from individuals with disabilities.
