PED 621 - Curriculum Construction In Physical Education

Program planning applicable to student's local situation. Generally accepted educational aims, objectives, philosophies, principles of curriculum construction. Prerequisite or corequisite: PED 610. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Investigate the historical, theoretical and philosophical influences on curriculum construction. 
  2. Create a personal philosophy of curriculum development based on current trends and best practices to assist in curriculum development. 
  3. Examine the role of the standards movement on local, state, and national K-12 physical education programs with regard to curriculum, instruction and assessment. 
  4. Identify and describe various instructional and curriculum models implemented in K-12 physical education. 
  5. Develop curriculum and assessment strategies based on reading and implementing best practices from research.
