POL 392 - Black Political Thought

Black philosophical approaches to history of oppression and resistance; economic and educational discrimination; criminal justice; health and housing disparities; public education. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Summarize the major concepts of racialization, race, and racism, colorism, shadeism from 1619 to today.
  2. Identify the significant ethical, political dimensions of anti-racist struggle through critical reflection.
  3. Apply these concepts and theories to historical epochs and contemporary society by the construction of a reasoned philosophical argument.
