SOC 300 - Introduction to Sociological Theory

A broad introduction to social and sociological theory. Examines themes of classical theory, as well as major works of contemporary theory. Prerequisite: SOC 150 or ANT 102. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the major classical and contemporary sociological theories.
  2. Describe the historical context in which the major classical and contemporary theories were developed.
  3. Analyze a contemporary social problem using a major classical or contemporary theory.
