SPM 355 - Sport Tourism and Mega-Events Study of participatory sport tourism and mega-event-based tourism from local to international levels. Examines relationship between the industries of sports and tourism, including economic impact, marketing, financial aspects of mega-events, motives for people to travel and host large sporting events that lead to an industry focused on sports attractions, events and experiences for tourists. Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify participant motivations for engaging in sport tourism.
- Analyze mega-event successes and failures within a social, historical and strategic context.
- Compare/contrast mega-events from host and tourist perspectives.
