THT 432 - Directing I

Techniques of play direction: script analysis, casting, rehearsing, staging. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code S = offered in spring; C = offered at least once every two years

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze a play script and distinguish between the various genres.
  2. Identify and critique composition, picturization, and movement within performances and classroom exercises and assignments.
  3. Create interesting staging/blocking and ground plans.
  4. Coach and critique actors in class and production work.
  5. Differentiate between different the styles/techniques directors use in the rehearsal process.
