SOC 230 - Prejudice and Discrimination

Descriptive and theoretical review of the existence and effects of prejudice and discrimination in worldwide context. Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Use social science terminology to describe and analyze individual and systemic prejudice and discrimination.
  2. Evaluate human cultural and social realities through a combined anthropological and sociological analysis.
  3. Describe worldwide patterns of domination and subordination towards both people and the natural environment.
  4. Critically analyze on-going colonialism as a major motivator of prejudice and discrimination.
