SCI 180 - Natural Hazards and Disasters Study of the interaction between society and natural hazards such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes and volcanoes. Consideration of both the physical operation and impacts of these phenomena, and how humans evaluate and respond to these threats to their lives and property. Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the physical operation and societal impacts of natural hazards.
- Explain the range of adjustments made by humans to mitigate natural hazards.
- Explain how climate change and social vulnerability exacerbate natural disasters.
