PHI 382 - Marxist Philosophy Discussion of Karl Marx, major theorists and schools in the Marxist tradition, especially with respect to the relevance of their ideas for the present. Topics will include political economic theory, alienation, sexism, racism and imperialism. Prerequisite: Three hours of philosophy or consent of instructor. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.) Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Summarize major concepts and theories in the field of Marxism in terms of contemporary society.
- Analyze concepts and theories about capitalism and the state in relationship to Marxist philosophy.
- Apply these concepts and theories to areas of contemporary concern by the construction of a reasoned philosophical argument.
