PED 187 - Track and Field

An introduction to the running, jumping and throwing events that make up the sport of track and field and cross country, including skill development, teaching progression, and training methods for each event. (0.5 cr. hr.)
Frequency code A = offered every semester

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate how track and field events can be made available and adapted to diverse populations and age groups.
  2. Assess performance and evaluate technique in selected track and field events.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of the basic biomechanics applied to track and field events.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of the rules of track and field.
