PED 180 - Team Sport Methods

Activity experience designed to provide students with knowledge of the concepts associated with skill acquisition in team sport activities classified as team passing, striking, fielding and net/wall sports. Students will demonstrate game performance skills in four exemplar sports. (1 cr. hr.)
Frequency code A = offered every semester

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain skill acquisition concepts relevant to the learning and teaching of team sports.        
  2. Explain how to modify team games and lessons to include all students. 
  3. Describe rules and procedures of volleyball, football, basketball and softball to practice and theory. 
  4. Demonstrate basic skill competencies and game performance sufficient for demonstration purposes as a competent K-12 physical educator.  
  5. Exhibit professional and responsible behavior that reflects a commitment to and respect for the profession.
