GLY 118 - Laboratory in Physical Geology Identification and classification of common geologic materials; use and interpretation of topographic and geologic maps and remote sensing imagery; analysis and interpretation of experimental data. Three-hour session weekly. Open by permission only to geology, environmental geoscience and adolescence education: Earth science majors who have already completed a non-laboratory introductory earth science or geology course. Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and describe the basic materials that comprise the Earth's crust and classify them based on origin and/or properties.
- Utilize and interpret the basic tools of geologic investigation such as topographic and geologic maps and aerial photographs.
- Observe, collect, analyze and interpret basic geologic data and summarize the findings in writing.
