EDU 330 - Assessment of Young Learners with Diverse Needs Acquaints candidates with the observation and assessment techniques necessary to understand the growth and development of young children, including children with and without disabilities, in order to meet the individual needs of children while building on their strengths. Examines formal and informal assessments of social-emotional, physical/sensorimotor, intellectual, communication, creative, health and adaptive behavior. Addresses critical issues in early childhood developmental assessment and the assessment of young children with disabilities. Prerequisites: EDU 270. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify developmental domain areas and appropriate assessments to evaluate each domain area.
- Demonstrate proficiency in implementing and interpreting formal and informal assessment tools for children with and without disabilities.
- Analyze a child's development across all developmental domain areas and develop a written report describing the child's development, abilities and needs.
- Apply observation and assessment tools/approaches in designing plans, including Individualized Family Service Plan, that meet a child's individual and group needs.
- Demonstrate an awareness of assessment partnerships with families and other interdisciplinary colleagues.
