ATS 342 - Visual Design for the Web

Introduction to the history and practical application of the use of the internet as a communicative and artistic tool. Students will learn a wide range of HTML and multimedia content authoring tools in the production of individual project sites. Prerequisites: ATS 102 and 202. Fulfills: LASR and PRES. Notes: The State University of New York at Cortland reserves the right to select and retain indefinitely any student artwork done in connection with course work completed at the university.(3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Create designs for the web that successfully applies the principles of design.
  2. Apply design research methods in the development of designs.
  3. Demonstrate effective practice of user experience (UX) design.
  4. Analyze and critique graphic design work using design vocabulary that expresses awareness of historical and contemporary influences within arts, humanities, sciences and technology.
