ANT 301 - Archaeologies of North America

Examine the archaeological history of North America from the initial peopling of the continent to the 20th century. Prerequisite: ANT 102, 103 or 104. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Summarize the theories and evidence for the peopling of North America.
  2. Describe the diversity of lifeways of ancestral Indigenous North Americans.
  3. Discuss the archaeological and Indigenous methods and theories used to understand the histories and cultures of North America.
  4. Critique archaeological approaches to describing and classifying Indigenous North American cultures and societies.
  5. Assess the role of archaeology and other heritage studies in the 21st century.
