The degree program has been designed for students interested in preparing for health careers in community/public health settings. Students participate in a full semester internship experience. A number of concentrations are available to help meet specific career interests of students.
Please note: The Health Science degree has been updated and revised to reflect current professional standards and trends. Beginning in the Fall 2009 semester, the name of the degree will change to Community Health. This revised program provides the same flexibility as the current health science degree while adding new key skills and competencies needed for entry level positions and graduate school programs in a variety of areas. Th revised program requirements are listed below.

A. Health Science Requirements: 13 credit hours
B. Required Courses: 18 credit hours
C. Fieldwork: 16 credit hours
Minimum overall 2.5 grade point average required D. Health Electives: 15 credit hours
Students elect courses based on professional interests and the following are typical electives in this program: Total Credit Hours Required for Graduation: 124
Beginning Fall 2009: Bachelor of Science in Community Health
A. Health Science Requirement: 13 credit hours
B. Required Health Courses: 28 credit hours
C. Fieldwork: 16 credit hours
Overall 2.5 grade point average required D. Health Electives: Nine credit hours
