Healthcare Management [HCM]


This degree program in the Health Department  introduces students to the fundamental concepts, tools and techniques essential to careers in finance, management and administration within healthcare facilities.

Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Employ discipline appropriate tools, methods and analytical approaches to analyze current and emerging issues in health and healthcare management.
  2. Identify healthcare management challenges and evaluate possible solutions from the viewpoints of the organization, clients, other stakeholders.
  3. Describe a healthcare organization's past, current and possible future actions that reflect an understanding of the interdependencies of economic, political and health systems.
  4. Analyze factors and challenges that impact healthcare delivery within the United States.
  5. Apply management and financial concepts, theories, and processes to analyze a healthcare facility.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to access and analyze information to make sound decisions in the health care industry.
  7. Understand, legal, ethical and regulatory considerations inherent in managing healthcare systems and organizations.
