Overview

As an international student who holds a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from a university outside the United States and who has a strong command of written and spoken English, you will gain advanced perspective and a solid foundation in the lifestyles, customs and traditions found across the United States when you choose the C.A.S. in American civilization and culture at SUNY Cortland.

Program Highlights

With the guidance of a SUNY Cortland faculty advisor, you will design your 18-credit-hour graduate program in an approved interdisciplinary concentration such as American history or government, American social and economic history, American and English literature, American literature, American education or other American institutions. A diagnostic examination may be required, and the dean of your school must approve the specific course components of your program of study.

Culminating Experience

In addition to completing any additional requirements determined by the SUNY Cortland school where you are enrolled, you may be required to sit for a comprehensive examination.
