REC 114 - Tabletop Gaming

Students will develop knowledge of contemporary tabletop games across board game domains (e.g., push your luck, deck builder, drafting, social deduction, euro game, and engine builder). As an experiential course, students will be asked to play, then critically evaluate each game and consider how it may be used in future practice. (1 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe at least four of the major board game domains
  2. Explain basic game mechanics for each domain
  3. Demonstrate an awareness of how each domain may be applied to meet educational, social, or therapeutic goals
