HLH 523 - Athlete Well-Being

Exploration of athlete well-being components and issues; roles of various athletics staff and health promotion specialists in fostering and supporting athlete well-being. Focused on college athletes with some discussion of high school athletes. Also listed as EXS 523 (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the components of well-being and analyze common well-being challenges experienced by college athletes and high school athletes 
  2. Apply the understanding of common well-being challenges of college and high school athletes and the factors contributing to them to one's personal and/or professional life 
  3. Evaluate existing health promotion programs/service/interventions for adaptation to address one or more factors contributing to a college or high school athlete well-being challenge 
  4. Create a health promotion artifact to address a factor contributing to a college athlete well-being challenge
