IST 160 - Model European Union

Introduction to the development, structure, and processes of the European Union; simulation of EU summit activities including development of resolution, treaty, and position papers; improvement of knowledge about European Union policy issues; enhancement of negotiation, debate and public presentation skills. Also listed as POL 160 (1-2 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify major concepts, topics, and theoretical perspectives related to the study of the European Union (EU).
  2. Demonstrate knowledge about the history, structure, and processes of the EU.
  3. Analyze the major issues on the EU agenda for that particular semester.
  4. Simulate the actions of a EU member state representative in the context of a EU negotiation deliberation.
