ANT 260 - Introduction to Museum Studies

Introduction to history, theory and practice of museums. Coverage of museum skills and best practices is provided. Focus on museum ethics and contemporary cultural heritage issues. Presentation skills in museum contexts are emphasized. Prerequisite: ANT 102. Fulfills: LASR; PRES. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate understanding of societal roles museums have played in the past and present.
  2. Apply museum organization and internal functions and practices.
  3. Discuss museum and cultural heritage-based ethical issues.
