POL 407 - Seminar: Constitutional Reform

 

Examination of existing proposals for changes to the U.S. Constitution; proposal, drafting and discussion of possible constitutional amendments; simulated constitutional convention. Fulfills: LASR; WI. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code C = offered at least once every two years

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the US Constitution, governing structure, and institutional roles.
  2. Prepare, advocate for (or against), and demonstrate understanding of novel draft constitutional amendments.
  3. Compose a substantial written document, supported by research, advocating for or against a particular constitutional amendment and explaining how it would alter the existing constitutional framework.
