SPA 317 - Literary Types in Spanish

Introduction to analysis of literature by studying various genres (prose, poetry, drama) according to subtitle. May be repeated as subtitle changes. Prerequisite: One of the following: SPA 306, 307 or 308. Fulfills: GE 7, GEHU; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Distinguish the structural elements of narrative, poetry, and drama in Spanish.
  2. Analyze texts in order to better understand and communicate their virtues or shortcomings.
  3. Express themselves in the target language with improved control of syntax and expanded vocabulary.
  4. Demonstrate increased knowledge of the variety of customs and values of Spanish-speaking cultures.
