SCI 142 - Integrated Physics and Chemistry

Activity-based, discussion-oriented science course for childhood education majors, involving experiments and problem-solving activities in areas typically classified as chemistry and physics. Gives students insight into some of the basic aspects of nature, helps develop a better understanding of science, and improves ability to teach these ideas. Fulfills: GE 2, GENS; LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain how the physical world works, based on the fundamental principles of chemistry and physics.
  2. Apply models and theories in chemistry and physics to make predictions about the physical world.
  3. ​Ask scientific questions, and design and carry out experiments to answer them.
