PSY 486 - Counseling Psychology Survey of systems of counseling, psychotherapy; consideration of prevention theory and methods, clinical techniques, professional issues, research in therapeutic effectiveness. Prerequisites: PSY 101, six additional credit hours of psychology. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify and describe the major theories of counseling.
- Identify and describe the various counseling techniques utilized in each theory.
- Describe the significance of the therapeutic relationship in counseling.
- Describe the importance of individual differences in the counseling process.
