HLH 461 - Health Care Finance An analysis of health-care financing in the U.S. The course investigates payment mechanisms, cost containment efforts, and the trends in third-party payments over time. The course will explore such concepts as risk sharing, cost-shifting, capitation, capital investments, strategic financial planning in a changing health care environment. Prerequisites: ECO 111 or MGT 254, 255. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe health care financial accounting.
- Explain how financial statements can be analyzed to assess the condition of a health care organization.
- Demonstrate basic skills in financial analysis and decision-making.
- Discuss basic principles of financial planning, budgeting and control, and cost accounting in health care organizations.
