HLH 314 - Mental Health and Counseling Mental health of individuals; counseling techniques used to help individuals understand and face health concerns of a physical, emotional, social nature. Health majors only. Not open to students with credit for HLH 313. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year.
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate techniques essential to be an effective listener and communicator.
- Differentiate between suitable and unsuitable concepts of mental health and mental illness.
- Discuss theoretical and philosophical differences among theories of mental health and counseling.
