HIS 550 - Issues in Early-American History Major issues in early-American history from European/Indian contact to Jacksonian America. Discussion of teaching strategies for these topics. Senior status for undergraduate history, adolescence education: social studies, childhood education majors; M.A. in history, M.S.Ed. in adolescence education: social studies or M.S.Ed. in childhood education. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Explain the historical significance of key themes, events, and people relevant to early American history.
- Assess the persuasiveness of historians' claims about the past.
- Identify the implications of historiographical innovations and debates for narratives about early American history.
