ECO 345 - Contemporary Public Policy Issues

Analysis of public policy issues from competing economic perspectives. Environment, minimum wage, health care and other contemporary economic issues. Suitable for majors and non-majors. Prerequisite: ECO 105. Fulfills WI. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the relevant economic theories that underlie current economic and public policy debates from differing contemporary schools of thought.
  2. Provide historical context for important contemporary public policy issues.
  3. Analyze contemporary debates on the effectiveness of fiscal, monetary policy, and public policy.
  4. Provide reasoning and justification for a public policy recommendation.
  5. Identify the socio-economic implications of public policy recommendations.
