ECO 312 - Economic Development of Latin America

Introduction to social, economic problems associated with process of economic development (or "underdevelopment") in Latin America from perspectives of economic history and analysis of current economic issues. Not open to students with credit for ECO 320. Prerequisite: ECO 105. Fulfills: LASR; WI. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Discuss the cultures of Latin American countries and the social and economic problems they face.
  2. Interpret quantitative and qualitative data about Latin America.
  3. Apply critical thinking skills to analyze the complexity of social and economic problems in Latin America.
  4. Apply their knowledge about Latin America to an international business setting.
