COM 443 - Rhetorical Theory

Principles of speech: Historical overview, with emphasis on such rhetoricians as Aristotle, Cicero, Quintilian, Campbell, Whately. Prerequisite: CPN 101 or 103. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the origins of rhetorical studies. 
  2. Summarize the broad nature of the field of rhetoric.
  3. Synthesize and differentiate between various approaches to rhetoric.
  4. Engage in scholarship within rhetorical studies using the research traditions of the discipline.
