ATS 308 - Fibers III Introduction to new fiber techniques. Continuation of woven processes and surface design techniques. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between surface and structure. Lectures, critiques, discussions and research of historic and contemporary textiles. Use of alternative materials is encouraged. Prerequisites: ATS 108 and 208. Fulfills: LASR; PRES, GECP. Notes: The State University of New York at Cortland reserves the right to select and retain indefinitely any student artwork done in connection with course work completed at the university.(3 cr. hr.) Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Assess one's own artwork and that of their peers using the presentation critique form.
- Investigate technical aspects of surface design and/or weaving creating a comprehensive portfolio.
- Execute a written investigation of artists that influence their work.
