ATS 304 - Ceramics III

Practical experience in advanced technical aspects of firing and glaze chemistry; body formulations emphasized. Frequent lectures, reading assignments, group critiques. Prerequisite: ATS 204. LASR; Fulfills: PRES, GECP. Notes: The State University of New York at Cortland reserves the right to select and retain indefinitely any student artwork done in connection with course work completed at the university.(3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Assess one's own artwork and that of other students.
  2. Investigate advanced technical aspects of firing pottery (i.e. Raku and Soda firing).
  3. Compose a logically organized reaction paper to assigned reading assignments.
