PED 655 - Instructional Strategies in Physical Education

Aid students in gaining understanding, knowledge and experience in the design of appropriate learning experiences, and the use of effective pedagogical skills in presenting a K-12 physical education curriculum aligned with state and national standards and to prepare them for field experience in K-5 schools. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Design safe instruction that shows knowledge of individual and group motivation and behavior, is developmentally appropriate and meets State and National benchmarks, standards and laws.  
  2. Create and use appropriate instructional cues, prompts and demonstration, design developmentally appropriate learning environments and select appropriate teaching strategies for K-12 students. 
  3. Apply motor development, language acquisition and literacy development theories and practices of children in lesson planning and rubric design.
