HIS 560 - Teaching U.S. History

Conceptual examination of the teaching of U.S. history. Open only to students in the M.A. and adolescence education: social studies (7-12) M.S.Ed. - history concentration programs. (3 cr. hr.)
Frequency code B = offered at least once per year

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Evaluate different approaches to the periodization of U.S. history.
  2. Identify significant categories of analysis, including race, class, and gender, relevant to the teaching of U.S. history.
  3. Develop teaching strategies for middle and high school students studying U.S. history.
