SPM 640 - International Sport Enterprise An overview of the sport management field, investigating the structure of sport globally including contemporary and future issues in sport. This course covers macro and micro perspectives regarding management and organizational theory, ethics, leadership and organizational behavior as applied specifically to organizations involved in international sport. This course is intended to mirror SPM 610: Sport Enterprise for M.S. students in the Sport Management [SPMG] program and is required. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code F = offered in fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze and discuss contemporary issues and trends in the international sport enterprise.
- Analyze the leadership and organizational theories utilized to leverage power, influence, and control in the international sport industry.
- Define and apply key cross-cultural management concepts and effective management strategies.
- Explain the organizational, operating, and governing structures of international sport organizations.
- Develop skills in working within a small work team to analyze, formulate, and present management document that will serve as the basis of profiling an international sport organization's structure and organizational culture.
