SHH 683 - Auditory Disorders An exploration of various disorders of auditory function and their impact on communication and the habilitative/rehabilitative management across the lifespan. Open to students in the MS program in Communication Sciences and Disorders. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the physiological, perceptual, and audiological manifestations of pathologies affecting hearing.
- Describe an appropriate audiological test battery for the purpose of identifying specific hearing disorders.
- Discuss the impact of hearing loss type, severity, and configuration on speech/language development and communication ability.
- Discuss American Speech, Language, Hearing, Association scope of practice as it relates to speech-language pathologist role in screening and service provision for hearing impairments.
