REC 603 - Historical, Philosophical and Theoretical Perspectives of Recreation and Leisure An in-depth analysis of the historical, philosophical and theoretical perspectives of leisure, recreation and play from ancient cultures to modern-day concepts. This foundation course focuses on historical and theoretical perspectives of leisure, the role of leisure and recreation throughout history in various cultures, and the evolution of leisure to its modern-day construct. Fulfills: LASR. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Articulate the major historical and philosophical perspectives of leisure, play, recreation, and work, as gained through reading and discussing major writers' works throughout history.
- Identify how culture has shaped leisure, and how leisure has helped to shape cultures throughout history.
- Articulate how leisure has differed through history, based on social class, race, religion, ability, gender and other variations in the human condition.
