REC 600 - Survey of the Recreation and Leisure Profession This course is designed for graduate students who are new to the field of recreation, leisure and park services. The course introduces the student to the plethora of professional sectors within the delivery of recreation, leisure and park services. The nature, scope and objectives of each of the professional areas will be examined in order to provide the student with a comprehensive knowledge base of the recreation and leisure services profession (2 cr. hr.) Frequency code B = offered at least once per year
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Articulate the nature, scope and objectives of each of the sectors within parks, recreation and leisure services. The sectors may include, but are not limited to, governmental services, non-profits services, private services, for-profit services, outdoor recreation and educational services, and therapeutic services.
- Differentiate between the philosophies, missions, goals and objectives of the various sectors within parks, recreation and leisure services.
- Examine and articulate demographic trends and current issues associated with each of the various sectors.
