PED 661 - Physical Education Practicum II

Prepare advanced teacher candidates in planning, teaching and evaluating strategies for K-12 physical education through supervised field experiences in K-12 schools. H, S and U grades assigned. Prerequisites: PED 526; CARR, SAVE, current first aid and CPR/AED certification, and cumulative 3.0 grade point average. (3 cr. hr.)

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply content and pedagogical knowledge appropriate to the learners, the environment, and long and short-term outcomes and goals of physical education. 
  2. Integrate planning, leadership and evaluation as a unified process to achieve short-term outcomes and plan for maintenance of long-term goals. 
  3. Differentiate physical education and physical activity programming based on personal and cultural characteristics of learners and communities. 
  4. Demonstrate leadership that reflects systematic inquiry into professional knowledge and practice and the context and learners served. 
  5. Communicate results of inquiry in the profession and community effectively.
