HLH 635 - The School Health Program This course is designed to provide the health student with the graduate-level responsibilities and competencies necessary to work as a teacher or administrator in the coordinated school health program. An examination of the theoretical and philosophical foundations of health education will be followed by current trends and movements in the profession. The course will focus on the eight component coordinated school health program model and an assessment of the coordinated school health program will be conducted along with the development of recommendations and training for professionals associated with the health program. (3 cr. hr.) Frequency code A = offered every semester
Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Examine health education programs and policies using appropriate assessment tools.
- Compare actual health education program activities with the stated objectives.
- Utilize and assess data collecting methods appropriate to the objectives.
- Interpret results of a health education program evaluation.
- Explore implications from assessment findings and make recommendations for future program planning and policy implementation that will assist in meeting student, school and district needs.
